Ryuko looks much younger than his actual age of 15, as he is very slender...
almost fragile and willowy, and the expression most usually found on his thin
effeminate face is one of guarded curiosity. Yet, at the same time, there is
something in his large dark brown/black eyes that betrays a personality much
older than 15. These are eyes which have already seen a great deal of pain, and
not enough caring. Eyes which are well familiar with long silences and dusty
stretches of time. The eyes of a loner, a recluse. They are almost hidden by his
heavy fringe of ink black bangs, which are rather wild and unruly; as is most of
his hair, except for that which is pulled into a long loose tail that reaches to
the small of his back.
Ryuko almost seems lost in the uniform he wears; a dark and dreary gray affair with white shirt beneath that appears to be a couple of sizes too large for his slim frame. Even though it is large on him, however, he keeps the gold buttons neatly fastened and seems almost meticulous about his appearance. There is never a smug or out of place bit of lint to be found on his attire, and he keeps his black shoes shiny and polished. He has no adornments, save a bronze pin in the shape of a Punisher skull, which is secured in place on the front of his uniform.
Ryuko is quiet, painfully so at times, and moves with a silent almost feminine grace which is very precise and purposeful, as if well practiced. He doesn’t walk so much as he skulks, staying to the edges of whatever room he’s in, instinctively seeking out the shadows and doing his best to keep out of other people’s way. Clearly nervous, reclusive, small and large-eyed, Ryuko often seems rather mouse-like at times.
Personality: This is the boy that no one really
takes much notice of, as he is always quiet and unobtrusive, doesn't participate
in many activities and generally keeps to himself. Most of the time he
does his best to avoid confrontation, though every now and then he will surprise
with a sudden flare of temper when he feels an injustice has been done. This is a
very rare occurrence, however. He would much prefer to keep out of the
fray, or hide behind someone else for protection. He is very much a
follower, conforming himself to fit in on the fringes as well as he can.
His silences hide a very intelligent individual with a wry sense of humor and a
great deal of love and loyalty to give, but layers upon layers of masks might
make it somewhat of a challenge to get to know this young man well.
Background: Ryuko's parents were killed in a car
accident when he was very young, and he was put into the custody of his only
other relative, a gruff and insensitive uncle who only took the child in because
he felt it was his duty. He was an indifferent caregiver at best and an
extremely abusive one at worst, and Ryuko learned early on to avoid him if at all
possible. He did his best to get by on his own, little more than a shadow
in his uncle's house, and took his comfort in reading and writing little poetic
bits about the silence and emptiness he faced daily.
Dreams/Goals/Aspirations: Ryuko simply wants to get
by. He enjoys writing, and has vague thoughts of trying to do
something with that interest, but as he has never been properly guided or
encouraged, the idea remains nebulous to him.
