What is the Bishounen Mailing List about?
The Bishounen Mailing List celebrates the Pretty-boys of Japanese Anime and Manga. We encourage the posting of pictures and fan-fiction, as well as discussions about the bishounen we like and the series they are from, art, and even general chatting. And at the moment there are no restrictions on nudity in pictures or adult situations in stories. Topics such as yaoi or slash are perfectly okay (in fact, some of us very much encourage those things!).
Do people send a lot of pictures through the mailing list?
Yes! The List is pretty graphics intensive, so if you are using an e-mail client with restrictions on size or space, please be sure that you check your mail often. If you neglect to do this and mail starts bouncing back to the list from your address, I will unsubscribe you. I don't like to do this, so please be certain that you are equipped to handle lots of pictures before you sign up. If you are going to be away from your computer for awhile, going on vacation or what-have-ya, just let me know, and I will be glad to suspend your mail from the list until you get back.
What happens when pictures are sent to the list? Are they kept anywhere special?
Yes again! Any attachments (graphics) posted to the List are automatically stored on the Lava Dome IV FTP site. This is a public domain, so if you would like to post something, but don't want it to go to the FTP, just let me know and I will be more than happy to make sure it doesn't. But, the FTP is an excellent resource, as it contains all of our previous posted pictures. So, if you've missed something or just want to browse our archive, please feel free to visit! The address is ftp://lavadomefive.com/ Our archive is in the Bishounen folder and many of the boys or series have their own folders within.
Anything not allowed on the Bishounen Mailing List?
As I said, we are pretty open-minded when it comes to yaoi and the like. In fact, many of us are very much into such things. But like on any mailing list, it's a very good idea to include a warning in the subject line or body of your mail if you think that you are posting something that might offend people. Warnings might include yaoi, B&D, S&M, vampirism, ect. Spoiler space is also encouraged if you think you might be divulging information about a series that others might not have seen yet.
I really only have one general rule on the Bishounen List, one that I think should be obvious to most people familiar with mailing lists, and that is - No Flames. Flaming is posting something that is intended to directly insult any other person or persons on the List, and I simply will not tolerate it. Discussions and even arguments are fine, as long as we don't resort to base name-calling or other insults. Please try to be polite and reasonable with the other members of the List, even if you don't agree with them. And if you find yourself having a problem with another List member, e-mail me about it and I will do my best to take care of things.
Sounds good. How do I sign up?
To subscribe to the Bishounen Mailing List, send a message to listserver@lavadomefive.com with the phrase SUBSCRIBE BISHOUNEN@lavadomefive.com as the first line of the body of the message. The subject of the message is irrelevant.
You will receive a confirmation message a minute or two after you send your request. Simply reply to this message, and you will be subscribed. You will then receive a welcome message within the next day or so, and then you will begin to receive traffic from the list.
We have received reports that AOL mail clients truncate the subject line of the confirmation message, making it impossible to auto-subscribe. Please E-mail dino@lavadomefive.com if you are experiencing this or other difficulties in subscribing.

Nope. Only members of the list can send and receive mail through the list.
How do I unsubscribe from the list?
